João Maria Gusmão + Pedro Paiva: Teoria Extraterrestre (Duplicate)

João Maria Gusmão + Pedro Paiva: Teoria Extraterrestre (Duplicate)

03.2.2015

English (Italian and French booklets)

Texts by Mattia Denisse, Luigi Fassi, Chris Fitzpatrick, Xavier Franceschi, Massimiliano Gioni, João Maria Gusmão, Katia Mazzucco, Philippe-Alain Michaud, Olivier Michelon, Alice Motard, Pedro Paiva, Gonçalo Pena, João Ribas, Alberto Salvadori, Antonio Scoccimarro, and Marcus Steinweg.

For almost 15 years now, the two Portuguese artists João Maria Gusmao + Pedro Paiva have been constructing an imaginative journey through films, photographs, installations, and sculptures that encapsulate philosophical, existential, and conceptual issues.

Produced in conclusion to a series of exhibitions—which began in 2011 with “Alien Theory” at frac île-de-france, and le plateau in Paris, by way of Museo Marino Marini in Florence, and ended with “Papagaio”, 2014–15 (premiering at HangarBicocca in Milan then moving on to the Camden Arts Centre in London)—Teoria Extraterrestre is the most complete monograph to date on João Maria Gusmão + Pedro Paiva, condensing nearly four years of work and thought that have been compiled into a film cosmogony by the artists themselves.

Francesco Gennari

20.10.2014

Texts by Xavier Franceschi, Francesco Gennari, Julian Heynen, Simone Menegoi, Dieter Roelstraete, Alberto Salvadori, and Dieter Schwarz

Developed as a reference monograph, the first to be published on the Italian artist Francesco Gennari, this volume offers insights into the artist’s body of work—composed of sculptures, drawings, and installations—coherently spanning the last 20 years of his artistic practice.

Published on the occasion of Gennari’s exhibition at Museo Marino Marini, Florence (November 2014) the book includes an anthology of works selected by the artist documenting almost every series he has worked on and developed since the beginning of his career. A selection of essays further elaborates the systems operating in the living structures created by the artist . . .  and his alter ego, “the demiurge.”

Andrea Kvas

Andrea Kvas

01.10.2014

Although the artistic work of Andrea Kvas is basically located in the field of painting, its further designation goes far beyond that. Only a small number of Kvas’s works correspond to the conventional idea of a painting; the majority do not allow themselves to be so tightly framed. The work of the young Italian oscillates between painting, sculpture, and expansive installations, and encircles the broad field of abstraction.
With the exhibitions described in the book, in Florence (at Museo Marino Marini) and Berlin (at Chert gallery space), it becomes truly difficult to think of Andrea Kvas’s works as individual pieces, and one must instead focus on how they function as groups which as a whole generate the very concept of the artwork.

Texts by Barbara Casavecchia, Andrea Kvas, Alberto Salvadori, Moritz Wesseler

Conceived with the collaboration of Alberto Salvadori—in a process that has taken 4 years, starting in 2009, at the time of the solo show at Museo Marino Marini in Florence—this catalogue-monograph on the work of Flavio Favelli gathers the entire body of work done by the artist over the last seven years of his career, grouped into sets by subject to illustrate the multiple created strategies deployed by Favelli in his expressive research. With essays by Simone Menegoi, Chris Sharp and Ariella Yedgar, the book supplies a series of tools and keys of interpretation that are indispensable for an analytical exploration of the universe of personal experiences and iconographic references that make up the complex landscape of this artist.

L'invisibile linea rossa

L'invisibile linea rossa

03.6.2010

L'invisibile linea rossa (The invisible red line) is a collection of unpublished essays of some of the great interpreters of contemporary architecture, with an appendix by Antonio Negri on Rem Koolhaas.

From Yona Friedman to Thom Mayne, from Peter Eisenman to Vito Acconci, Bernard Tschumi, Elias Zenghelis, Greg Lynn, Diller-Scofidio ... They are all 'cultivators of ideas', united by their participation in the meetings held by the Osservatorio Architettura of the Targetti Foundation since 2004 as opportunities for discussion of the complex phenomena related to the world of architecture, with this book providing an expression and testimony.
The discourses that are collected here and the critical contributions that accompany them, though very different in language and inspiration, all seem linked by a thin red line, the search for an answer to an implied question: what it means to be an architect today.
L'invisibile linea rossa (The invisible red line), edited by the Targetti Foundation, is published by Quodlibet.

Baedeker is a collection of site-specific projects carried out for Tusciaelecta 2007 in Parco Bardini in Florence. The publication is edited by Arabella Natalini.

Artist, critic, curator, Michele Dantini is interested in projects that connect art, political ecology and reflection on the 'public sphere'. The exhibition projects cross different languages, photography, drawing, installation, video, and seek a dialogue between image and word. They revolve around the experiences of mobility and dislocation on the one hand, and mental processes, on the other.
